DMC Colour Variations is a multi-coloured thread with an over-dyed effect made from 100% long staple Egyptian cotton and double mercerized to give it brilliant sheen.
Colour Variations is comprised of 6 size 25 easily separated strands, allowing you to adjust the thickness of your stitching by using a different number of strands. The thread is 100% colourfast, fade resistant, and offers guaranteed DMC colour consistency from one skein to another.
These “overdyed” threads are beautifully designed to create subtle variations in colour without having to change threads. Each skein has a blend of soft multi-colours that flow seamlessly into one another along the length of the thread. Each skein is a combination of DMC colors, with 4 inches of every colour corresponding to the 117 Floss colours, so you can coordinate Colour Variations with DMC Embroidery Floss to stitch beautiful designs with colours that compliment one another.
The colour changes of Colour Variations reveal themselves every few stitches with no harsh contrasts. With colours ranging from “Glistening Pearl” to “Tropical Sunset” and “Wild Fire”, DMC Colour Variations offers a breathtaking pallet of 60 beautiful multi-colours that is ideal for creating designs that bring color to life.

HOW TO USE
Colour Variations is perfect for stitchers of all levels. So, whether you are an experienced or new stitcher, you'll find Colour Variations quick, easy, and fun to stitch with! Colour Variations is designed to be stitched using any embroidery technique, its colour combinations will always show. DMC Colour Variations Floss offers fun and faster stitching thanks to fewer colour changes and innovative designs; no two stitched pieces are the same.
For counted cross stitch designs there are two ways to form your stitches:
- One cross-stitch at a time: by completing each stitch individually, Colour Variations will distinctly graduate into the thread's next colour. This method gives you more control over the placement of the variation in the thread.
- Standard method: by stitching a row of half-cross stitches in a row from left to right and completing each stitch on the return, threads will create a tweeded or blended look of softly mixed colours when completed.
If your Colour Variations threads become twisted while stitching, simply drop the needle and allow the threads to unwind itself. To assure you get the best results, take your time. By stitching slowly, you’ll have better control over the placement and laying of your stitches.
CARE & WASHING
DMC Colour Variations is 100% colourfast and can be washed in warm water 60°C. Particular attention should be paid to the fabric on which the thread was embroidered. Wash your embroidery with one teaspoon of mild soap. After washing, gently wring it out and rinse it as many times as necessary to get the soap out of it (until the water is clear). Use almost cold water to rinse the piece. Wrap the embroidery in a towel to remove excess water, then dry flat. Place the embroidery on a clean towel, preferably while still damp, and iron on the reverse side, at the temperature setting recommended for the fabric.
